Contemporary Hip-Hop is a culture not only defined by street elements. It is multi-faceted, exploding first from traditional breaking, graffiti, emceeing, and deejaying. It was the spawn of creative urban forces of the 1970s - a naïve babe sprung from a piece of cardboard lain on the ground who grew rapidly into a wise and everlasting soul. Nowadays, the individuals who embrace this form of artistic expression are the soul of Hip Hop. From music and art, to food and dress, this soul is popping at Hip Hop Chow. The vibe is mixed by our chef, our employees, and you - we all bring Soul Food with a Twist to the table. The twist is as unique as each soul. Substitute a side, hang a painting, or squeeze a lemon. Feast YOUR way, in the diverse style you'd expect from the heart of New York City's East Village – a potent nursery for Hip Hop chasing the South Bronx. At Hip Hop Chow, we want this tradition to continue. Our Brooklyn-born and Chinatown-bred chef, Eric Kwan, has created a menu worthy of his heritage and New York flare. Kwan personifies the restaurant's mantra: "Diverse, not fusion!" The concept is 'SOUL FOOD WITH A TWIST'. Using the freshest and highest quality ingredients from local purveyors, the Chef celebrates and refines the classic flavors of comfort foods from both his backgrounds and adds original touches. Menu items change with the seasons, contain no MSG, and are from scratch, like a Deejay and his records. |
